Abstract The thesis deals with study two dimensional scattered waves from buried object in elastic single layer or dierent layered media and the possibility of being the interfaces between layers are regular or irregular. The buried object may be a void, crack or aw inside the layer. The method of solution depends on reducing the boundary value problem into a boundary integral equation of Fredholm type or a coupled integral equation system, both based on the geometrical shape of the buried object. This thesis has a lot of applications in engineering and geophysics elds such as non-destructive evaluations, structure of nuclear reactor de sign, manufacturing alloys, and pressure vessels, oil explorations and structures over water, earthquake engineering, soil dynam- ics, acoustic microscopy, seismology, exploratory geophysics and for medical imaging etc. |
