Abstract

The current study investigates the effect of using music lyrics multimedia-based program in developing some EFL listening comprehension and speaking skills among primary school pupils. The study adopted the descriptive method and the quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design. A group of fifth year primary school pupils was randomly selected from Kafer Houreen primary school in Kafer Houreen, Berket El Sabaa Directorate, in the first term of the academic school year 2015-2016 (31 pupils in the experimental group and 31 pupils in the control group). Pupils of the experimental group received training through music lyrics multimedia – based program; while pupils in the control group received regular instruction. The tools included an EFL speaking and listening comprehension tests for assessing the participants’ EFL speaking and listening comprehension skills. The tests were applied to the participants of the study before implementing music lyrics multimedia-based program in order to measure their level in EFL speaking and listening comprehension skills. Then, the study tools were re-applied after the implementation of music lyrics multimedia-based program. Results of the present study revealed that participants’ EFL listening comprehension and speaking skills were developed after the implementation of music lyrics multimedia-based program. Accordingly, music lyrics multimedia-based program was found to be effective in developing EFL speaking and listening comprehension skills.
