Abstract This is a prospective randomized study which was carried out in the Otorhinolaryngolgy Department at Tanta University hospital on a 200 consecutive cases followed up after being treated for allergic nasal polyposis by different treatment modalities .Patients were retrieved during their regular follow up from the Outpatient Clinic starting from September 2012. Patients were divided into 2 groups, each containing 100 patients treated with the topical nasal steroid for one month. Topical fluticasone propionate nasal spray (FLIXONASE) was used in group (A) in a dose of 2 shots in each nostril twice daily, while topical budesonide nasal spray (RHINOCORT AQUA), was used in group (B) in a dose of 2 shots in each nostril twice daily. After discussing the details of this study to each patient and getting his consent to participate in the study, he/or she was be subjected to: Full history taking with subjective evaluation using modified SNOT score . Complete ENT examination including nasal endoscopy and endoscopic grading of the size of the polyps for objective assessment. Study of quality of life of the patients after receiving the treatment of sinonasal polyposis through assessment of the main nasal functions which are breathing and smelling using SNOT score. Also objective evaluation and endoscoping grading of the polyps after treatment. Exclusion criteria were be taken in mind. |
