Abstract

The aim of the current study was to evaluate and compare the 2-year clinical performance of glass ionomer adhesives with that of a resin-based adhesives in class V restorations, and in vitromicrotensile bond strength of these adhesives to dentin after artificial aging. On the basis of the results of the current study, it seems reasonable to conclude that, there is no proof that glass ionomer-based adhesives perform better than resin-based adhesives. Both adhesive systems exhibited acceptable clinical performance in class V restorations over an evaluation period of two years and the null hypothesis was therefore accepted. Regarding in-vitro investigations, three-step etch-and-rinse adhesive provides highest µTBS to dentin and resist bond degradation compared to SE, and GIA. Aging adversely affect the bond strength of the SE and GIAs to dentin.
