Abstract

Hepatitis B is a major global health problem. Hepatitis B is the most common serious liver infection in the world. Worldwide, about 350 million people are chronic carriers of HBV, of whom, more than 620,000 die from liver-related disease each year. Egypt is among the countries with intermediate endemicity of HBsAg (range, 2%-7%). Infection with HBV can also lead to progressive liver disease, including liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) .Globally Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection considered to be health care problem and a main reason of chronic liver disease, with nearly 170 million people infected. With infection rates ranging from 1.3-1.6% in the USA to 15% in Egypt. Co-infection of chronic hepatitis B&C is considered significant public health issues globally. Identification of Hepatitis B virus antigen using western blot at 24 kDa and HBs detected using ELISA in the case of an chronic (HCV) patients and found that the incidence rate increases as the disease progresses.
