Abstract

The comparison between oxytocin bolus and infusion (A) and tranexamic acid infusion (B) showed no major difference in effectiveness in controlling blood loss and prevention of postpartum hemorrhage and usage of uterotonic agents. The significant difference in the study between the two group appeared in estimating blood loss during the period after placental delivery till end of operation although there is no significant difference during the four hour after operation.
The study showed that tranexamic acid is effective as oxytocin infusion in controlling blood loss during elective caesarean section wituout considerable side effects.
