Abstract

Psoriasis is one of the most common immune mediated and inflammatory skin disease. Although the pathogenesis of psoriasis is not yet fully understood, it’s believed that a combination of several factors including genetic and environmental trigger factors may contribute in the development of psoriasis. The ERM family proteins appear to function as cross-linkers
between plasma membranes and actin-based cytoskeletons. Moesin is localized to filopodia and other membranous protrusions in the basal cell
layer and upper stratum spinosum that are important for cell recognition and signaling and for cell movement. The ERM family proteins are implicated in diverse aspects of epithelial membrane biology and immune synapse formation in T cells. This suggests that moesin plays
a role in differentiation and proliferation of kcs. So, the aim of this work was to evaluate the serum level of moesin and to throw light of its possible role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. To achieve this aim, 40 patients with chronic plaque psoriasis
were included in this study. Disease severity was assessed by PASI score. In addition to 10 normal individuals served as control. They were collected from the Outpatient Clinic of Dermatology and Veneorology
Department, Tanta University Hospitals.
