Abstract

Peanut plants showing different root-rot and basal stem symptoms were collected from different localities i. e., South El-Tahrir, El-Bostan,El-Nobaria and Shabab El-Khregen El-Behera Governorate during the period from 2014 to 2016 growing seasons, The obtained results are indicated as follow:1- Isolation from peanut root rotted plants yielded :A. alternata, A. flavus, A. niger, Botrodiplodia sp., F. oxysporum, F.roseum,F.solani, M. phaseolina, Mucor sp., Pythium sp., R. solani, R. stolonifer and
S. rolfsii.2- Pathogenicity tests on cultivars Ismailia 1 and Gregory peanut indicated that R. solani isolate No. 6 was the most pathogenic causing seed decay and seedling pre- and post- emergence damping-off followed by isolate No. 4 on two cvs under test.3- All tested isolates of R. solani recorded high activation rates of both enzymes compared to non- inoculated plants in pots. Isolates No.1and 6 were highest activation of PPO reached 27.6 and 27.08 OD/sec/g. f. w. of root cv. Ismailia 1 while, reached 21.02 and 20.77 OD/sec/g. f. w. of root when inoculated peanut cv. Gregory with R. solani isolates No. 2 or 3.However, in leaves peanut cv. Ismailia1 inoculated with R.solani isolate No. 5 reached 26.15 OD/sec/g. f. w. however, reached 21.56 OD/sec/g. f .won Gregory cv. when inoculated with isolate No. 1. The highest value of POD activity in root obtained 0.467 OD/sec/g. f. w when inoculated Ismailia 1 with R. solani isolate No.3, while Gregory cv. reached 0.277 OD/sec/g. f. w when inoculated with isolate No. 1. However, in leaves reached 0.389 and 0.170 OD/sec/g. f. w. on Ismailia 1 and Gregory inoculated with R. solani isolates No.5 and 6, respectively.
