Abstract Mastectomy due to breast cancer is one of the most severe traumas a woman can experience in her lifetime. Many patients suffer from upper limb impairments that result from mastectomy may lead to significant psychological morbidity. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of early upper limb exercises on reducing its disabilities and improving self-esteem among mastectomy patients. Quasi-experimental research design was utilized in the current study. The study sample included (60) female adult patients were admitted to surgical department in oncology center at Minia city they classified equally into two equal groups 30 for a control group and 30 for study group. The findings of the current study revealed that, decrease disabilities of the upper limb in study group more than the control group, majority of study group has normal muscle strength and improvement in self-esteem than the control group in three observations after they applied post mastectomy exercises. |
