Abstract

Water pollution can be caused by industrial waste materials
tergents, dyes, petroleum, heavy metals and sewage), natural and
estic wastes, agricultural insecticides, mercury, lead and sewage
t are released into water. The pollution can reach to humans
’ough the food chain.
Toxicity that resulted from food contamination is a major reason
Iwhealth risk. Tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) is one of the most important
rultured fresh water fish due to its resistance to adverse conditions,
fast growth rate in warm waters, relatively low production cost, meat
~uaJity and high protein content. In Egypt, Nile tilapia (0. niloticus) is
consider as important species for fish farming.
Aquatic vertebrates such as fish make contact with their
environment through their gills. For this reason, fishes are more
affected on aquatic pollutants. So, we used Azolla pinnata and
Turmeric with black pepper in treatment tilapia that were cultivated
in waste water as it was found that, Azolla can act as a bio filter to
purify water and can remove phosphorus and nitrogen. Also, it can
remove sulfa drugs and it remove metals like Cd, Cr, Pb, Au, Sr, Cu,
Zn, Ni and Pt.
Moreover Curcumin has been shown several biological effects as,
anti-ulcer, antivenom, anti-HIV, anti-protozoal, anti-microbial,
hypolipidaemic, anti-tumor, anti-allergic, antioxidant, anti dyspeptic,
antidepressant, exhibiting anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective
activities.
