Abstract

The present study is an attempt to appraise the geological, structural,
geomorphological, morphometric and geoenvironmental conditions that are
related to W. Ghadir area (located in the extreme southern part of the Central
Eastern Desert, Egypt aided by remote sensing and GIS technologies.
Geologically, a widely distribuated stretch of Neoproterozoic ophiolitic
mélange constituted mainly of allocthonous ophiolitic fragments
(serpentinites and talc-carbonates, metagabbros, sheeted metadiabase dykes
and pillowed metabasalts) mixed firmly and incorporated in a sheared matrix,
as well as, other different mappable units (include metavolcanics, rhyolitic,
metagabbro-dioritic and granitic rocks) cover W. Ghadir area. These rock
units were reasonably discriminated using remote sensing and GIS
techniques (including TCC, FCC, PCA, BRC and supervised classification).
