Abstract
This research succeeded in assessing the knowledge, attitude and practices of the family physicians regarding smoking cessation program .The study has been conducted on 79family physicians working in family health units and centers in 4 different districts in Alexandria governorate (East , Agami , Middle , Montazah).
This has been performed using a self administered questionnaire which was divided into three parts , being delivered to the physicians at their work places. The most important results reached in the study were displayed in 12 tables which showed there was positivity in the attitude and practices of family physicians towards the guidelines of smoking cessation program.
The vast majority of physicians included in this study were females as they constituted more than 92%. Half of the family physicians were enrolled in the Egyptian Board in Family Medicine. The main source of knowledge about the smoking cessation program was the internet in more than half of the family physicians(54.4%) . More than one third of the family physicians (34.2%) received formal training course/program about smoking cessation especially those enrolled in the Egyptian board in Family Medicine.
