Abstract

The effect of 940 nm diode Laser and 17% EDTA on bond strength of AH plus resin sealer and penetration into dentinal dentin were investigated in this study.
Forty-five extracted maxillary single rooted teeth were in- cluded in this study. The crowns for all samples were de- capitated and root canals were instrumented to size #50. The teeth were divided into three group’s fifteen teeth each according to the final irrigation protocol: (GI) NaOCl 2.6%, (GII) 17% EDTA and (GIII) diode Laser. Each group was further subdivided according to method of evaluation into: Subgroup A, push out test and subgroup B, sealer penetra- tion. Teeth were obturated using lateral condensation tech- nique with gutta percha cones and AH plus sealer. Three 2 mm thickness slices were obtained from each root repre- senting each canal third. Each root slice was subjected to push out test by Instron machine. Data were recorded and analyzed.
The results of the present study showed that in scan elec- tron microscope there was no significant difference in penetration depth of sealer between the groups. Laser group being more efficient than EDTA and NaOCl groups in pen- etration depth of epoxy resin sealer in the coronal thirds but there was significant difference between them in the middle
&apical thirds in penetration depth of sealer. The laser

group showed recrystallized, localized melted and fissure dentin surface which was not found in the other groups. In the push out test the Laser showed the higher bonding val- ues than EDTA group and lowest values in NaOCl group.
