Abstract Family caregivers of psychiatric patients were forced to take many case management roles; they served as a link to the treatment team, in terme of encouraging, supporting and monitoring patients’ compliance with medication and recommended activities. They also provided crisis intervention by letting the treatment team know the early warning signs of relapse so the experience of caring for a dependent ill person has been described by family caregivers as an exhaustive and stressful task which may hamper independent living, and lessen caregivers’ life satisfaction and at the same time , stigma made them to struggle with the reality of the illness and feel embarrassed (3,24).The present study aimed to determine the relation between psychiatric illness stigma and quality of life among family caregivers of patients with psychiatric illnesses. This study followed a descriptive research design and it was conducted at the psychiatric department of Tanta University Hospital and its outpatient clinic.
