Abstract

The contour of the abdomen is the backbone of body contouring surgery.
Patients usually seek abdominoplasty for abdominal wall laxity, excess skin, striae, or diastasis of the rectus muscles.
The ideal patient is within normal limits for his or her weight and height (i.e., body mass index), has no plans for future pregnancies, has a moderate amount of excess of skin and fat, and has a mild diastasis of the rectus muscles.
The inevitable end scar must be as invisible as possible, symmetrical, and located in regions covered with the minimal clothing.
The choice of the incision of abdominoplasty is a vital step in the procedure.
This study is a prospective comparative study between Classic (U) incision abdominoplasty and (W) incision abdominoplasty; the study included 30 patients divided into 2 groups (A) & (B) each group 15 patients.
group (A) underwent Classic (U) incision abdominoplasty with liposuction, and group (B) underwent (W) incision abdominoplasty with liposuction, both groups compared and results collected, evaluated, and statistically studied.
The results of the two different incisions used in abdominoplasty with liposuction detect the morbidities and complications which may occur after the surgical procedures such as Aesthetic complication which occurred in the form of asymmetry, dog ears, residual deformity, unsatisfactory umbilicus and unsatisfactory scarring (widened, thickened, hypertrophic or keloid) and Non-aesthetic complications which occurred in the form of seroma, wound infection, partial skin necrosis, and wound dehiscence, and comparing the aesthetic outcome and patient satisfaction.
Conclusion
This comparative study concluded:
1- The advisability of the (U) incision abdominoplasty and (W) incision abdominoplasty.transverse incision as a routine incision for classic full abdominoplasty.
2- The significance of the proper choice of the incision of abdominoplasty appears in the aesthetic results, and incidence of Aesthetic and Non-aesthetic complications in the cases involved in the practical study in hand.
3- Abdominoplasty with Liposuction provide high levels of patient satisfaction and aesthetic results. The combined procedure is similar in discomfort level to abdominoplasty alone and produces the highest level of patient satisfaction.
4- Patient satisfaction represents a golden goal in the practical work, especially in aesthetics surgeries. Satisfaction with the patients underwent “U” incision abdominoplasty (U-M technique) with liposuction is higher than the patients “W” incision abdominoplasty with lipo suction.
