Abstract

The current study was done as a trial to find effective chemical disinfectants against unsporulated and sporulated Eimeria oocysts and to define their best application conditions For evaluation of the effect of concentration and contact time on the efficacy of disinfectants, two dilutions of each disinfectant was prepared as follow: QAC (2% and 4%), chlorocresol (10% and 20%), glutaraldehyde (2% and 4%) and kilcox (2% and 4%) each concentration was added to the parasite at different contact times ( 30 and 120 minutes ).
Efficacy of disinfectants against unsporulated Eimeria oocysts were evaluated by calculation of percentage of sporulation inhibition (IA %).The obtained results revealed the following: Chlorocresol: 98% prevention was achieved at 20% concentration within 120 minutes When the contact with the unsporulated oocysts was reduced to 30 minutes, the results did not reach an acceptable preventative rate, with a prevention rate of 10% (72.4%) The sporulated oocysts was eliminated with high efficiency and reached 97.4% and 99% at 10% and 20% concentration within 120 minutes QACs : The QACs disinfectant did not achieve the desired results. The elimination rate of the sporulated oocysts was 69% at the highest concentration (4%) and contact up to 120 minutes A weak rate of elimination for sporulated oocysts is not sufficient to classify the product as an anti-coccidia disinfectant.• The highest inhibitory rate for un sporulated oocysts recorded by QACs disinfectant was 94% at 4% concentration within 120 minutes. Glutaralhyde: The highest prevention rate for unsporulated oocysts was 76.6% and 89% at the concentration of 2% and 4% respectively in 120 minutes. When the contact time with the unsporulated oocysts reduced to 30 minutes 2%conc. the results did not reach an acceptable preventative rate which was (61.7%) 95.8% of the sporulated oocysts was eliminated at 4% concentration within 120 minutes. 4- Kilcox Extra: Inhibition of sporulation was achieved at a very high rate of 92.7% at 4% concentration within 30 minutes. 93% achieved elimination of sporulated oocysts at 4% concentration within 120 minutes. When the duration of contact time with the sporulated oocysts was reduced to 30 minutes, the elimination of the sporulated oocysts at the concentration (4%) was 78.4%. The rate of elimination of sporulated oocysts at the concentration of 2% within 120 minutes reached 67%. It is recommended to use it at a concentration of 4% and a contact period of 120 minutes to eliminate the sporulated oocysts. This study recommends the use of chlorocresol disinfectant at a concentration of 10% for at least 120 minutes to clean the poultry farms between the production cycles, especially if there is a complaint of the presence of coccidiosis in a previous production cycle. We also recommend of Kilcox Extra disinfectant at 4% concentration for at least 120 minutes to eliminate the sporulated oocysts as well as prevent the sporulation.
