Abstract Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by chronic hyperglycemia. Calprotectin is (myeloid related protein8/14) a stable heterodimer belong to S100 protein family among its functions are activation of NADPH oxidase, toll like receptors4 (TLR4), and advanced Glycation end products (AGES) which are important in signaling pathways in pathogenesis of micro and macrovascular complications of diabetes. The study was done in MINIA university hospital diabetic out-clinic. In current study we included 60 subjects divided into three main groups group I (diabetic) patients: 20 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(14 females, 6 males their age ranged from 35-58 years. ) group II (Pre-diabetic) patients: 20 patients (13 females, 7 males their age ranged from 35-58 years. ) group III (control group): (20 subjects 16 females ,4 males their age ranged from 35- 50 years). The studied groups diagnosed according to American diabetes Association(ADA) 2017 We classified them according to FBG, 2hpp BG, and HBA1C. Patients were subjected to: 1-laboratory evaluation which included: A)Glycemic parameters :Fasting Blood Glucose ( FBG) ,2hour post prandial Blood Glucose (2hppBG), F insulin, HbA1c, Homeostatic Model Assessment Of Insulin Resistance (HOMA IR), Homeostatic Model Assessment to quantify beta-cell function (HOMA –B). B)Lipid profile : (Total Cholesterol (TC) ,Triglycerides(TG), High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol( LDLC) ,Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDLC) C)Liver functions D)renal functions E)Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (EGFR) F)urine analysis G) and serum calprotectin. 2-Assessment of symptoms and/or signs using scoring systems: (neuropathy disability score and Michigan Neuropathy screening instrument). Patients were also subjected to nerve conduction study, Fundus examination and ECG. |
