Abstract The Arabian-Nubian Shield (ANS) evolved as the northern part of the East Africa–Antractic Orogen (880 - 542 Ma, Stern et al., 2010). The late Neoproterozoic post-collisional stage of tectono-magmatic evolution of the ANS started at around 620 Ma (Stern et al., 2010) Transition from convergence to extension occurred at 600 Ma (e.g. Stern,1994; Jarrar et al.,2003) and was finally followed by a stable craton and platform setting at ca. 540 Ma (Johnson and Woldehaimanot, 2003). One of the most strikin features of the north-western segment of the Arabian Shield of Saudi Arabia and the central segment of the Egyptian Nubian Shield is the abundance of anorogenic plutons of special felsic mineralized granitic stocks which the interval 607-518 Ma forced their emplacement (e.g. Harris, 1985; Drysdall et al., 1984. 1986; Bokhari et al., 1986; Jackson and Douch, 1986; Abdel- Moneim et al., 1991; Helba et al., 1997; Sherbini and Qadhi,2004;Qadhi, 2007 Heikal and El-Amawy, 2013; ElAmawy et al., 2013).The present Abu Dabbab albite granite represents one of the most important special felsic mineralized granitic stock in the central segment of the Egyptian Nubian Shield, located some 50 km northwest of Marsa Alam city |
