Abstract Endoscope made agreat revolution in Otorhinolaryngology field due to its good view not only in straight direction but also provide good view of hidden corners by using endoscope of different angles 0, 30, 70 according to need. It had been used perfectly as adiagnostic method in the past, then it is directed also to be used as atherapeutic equipment. Microscopic myringoplasty was the standard operation for many decades, but due to its limited view, an Otoendoscope is used then in conjunction with it. Later, the directions are focused on Otoendoscope as aunique view guidance for myringoplasty operation aiming at; avoidance of large postauricular incision, good intraoperative view and also for learning purposes. Endoscopic myringoplasty is still having some difficulties as one handed technique, overload on the surgeon arms and heat released from it through the ear. Although large sized perforation is areal challenge for the surgeon, we had done our study in patients with large sized to subtotal perforation using an endoscope instead of traditional microscope. In our study, we used two types of graft material which was either tragal cartilage or tragal perichondrium. All patients are followed up regularly with use of Otoendoscope for better view of graft uptake. Results showed high uptakerate of both used graft materials with improvement of air conduction thresholds, so the endoscope can be used condensly for myringoplasty operation instead of microscope with finding solutions for its difficulties for the surgeon. |
