Abstract
Ultrasound guided PEI Sclerotherapy is recognized as the first-line treatment of benign thyroid cysts. Percutaneous Ethanol Injection in treatment of benign thyroid cysts appears to be a highly efficacious and safe technique.The improvement in clinical conditions obtained with very low recurrence rate, and about absence of complications except pain associated with injection that can easily manage with simple analgesic and pain killer.
The procedure of PEI is optimum and more recommendable as alternative to thyroid surgery.In our opinion, future guidelines should include PEI prior to surgical treatment and establish a uniform consensus protocol, and it’s better to perform this procedure under general anesthesia to achieve the best result.
