Background: The importance of emotional intelligence & self- efficacy in the workplace and these skills not only for managers & heads but also for everyone who works in any place. Mental health nursing is one specialty area of nursing that could truly benefit from high emotional intelligence; he or she is more likely to be able to express his or her emotions in a healthy way, and understand the emotions of those he or she works with
&their patients, thus enhancing work relationships, self-efficacy, and performance. The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-efficacy among psychiatric-mental health nurses in clinical practice. Setting and sample type: This study was conducted at Benha Psychiatric-Mental Health Hospital convenience samples of 135 nurses working in different departments. Research design: A descriptive correlation study design was utilized in this study to be achieving the aim of this study. Tool: Was used divided into three parts. Part (1): Nurses’ socio-demographic data. Part (2): Structured questionnaire sheet to assess nurses’ emotional intelligence level and Part (3): Structured questionnaire sheet to assess nurses’ self-efficacy. Results revealed that there was a highly statistically significant relationship between the overall score of self-efficacy & emotional intelligence. Conclusion: Study concluded that there was a positive correlation between the overall score of self-efficacy & emotional intelligence. Recommendations: Set up role-play and role model for increasing self-awareness and social communication skills for nurses in the workplace. In addition, nursing research should focus on the factor that influences on self-efficacy of nurses in clinical practice and influence of self-efficacy in nursing filed.
