Abstract

Summery
Inguinal hernia in pediatrics is very common. Although most
hernia repairs are performed by using a variety of anterior
approaches, laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair may be associated
with decreased postoperative pain and shorter convalescence.
Laparoscopic herniotomy is proved to be beneficial for pediatric
inguinal hernia since it provides an excellent view on the cord
structures, less traumatic and provides evaluation of the other side.
According to Nyhus classification, we classified the patients into
-group I: Nyhus Type I and II Patients were proceed
into laparoscopic herniorraphy (closure with muscular arch
repair) using polyprolyne sutures.
-group II: Nyhus Type III and IV patients were
proceed into laparoscopic TAPP mesh repair using light weight mesh
with uniform standard fixation using polyprolyne sutures.
The study was conducted in the period from July 2016 to
September 2018 on 18 patients who were presented to General
Surgery Department, Pediatric Surgery Unit, Tanta University
Hospitals, with age range from 12 to 18 years old. All cases were
