Hyponatremia is defined as plasma sodium concentration of less than 135 mmol/L and is one of the most common electrolyte dearrangment in both children and adult hospitalized with respiratory infection .It can result from defecit of sodium or an excess of free water..Aspecific association between respiratory illness such as bronchiolitis and asthma and increase circulatory levels of AVP has been documented. The aim of this work was directed to evaluate frequency of hyponatremia in hospitalized children with bronchiolitis and bronchial asthma and the relation of respiratory chest infection with occurance of hyponatremia. The study was conducted at pediatric department of Menoufia University Hospital from October 2017 to April 2018. |
