Abstract Poly substance abuse is a major problem in Egypt, due to rapidly growing and changing patterns of substance use considering its effect on quality of life. The study aimed to assess poly substance abuse patient’s satisfaction and knowledge with cognitive behavioral therapy. A descriptive cross sectional design was utilized in this study. This study was conducted at Abbassia Mental Health and Addiction Hospital in inpatient and outpatient units. Two tools were utilized to measure the variables of the studyl-) an interviewing questionnaire developed by investigator that consists of: A) personal data such as patient age, gender, level of education, occupation, economic status, marital status and residence B) Medical data such as patient Diagnosis, history of addiction, substance used by the patient, method of administration, causes of administration and number of administration per duration. C) Assessing poly substance abuse patient’s knowledge about cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).2) Comparative Psychotherapy Process Scale (CPPS): used to assess patient’s satisfaction regarding their treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The study sample comprised of 100 poly substance abuse patients. Their age ranged between> 19 and 60 years. The main results of this study revealed that there are 77% of poly substance abuse patients have moderate satisfaction among CBT,78% of poly substance abuse patients were have enough knowledge among CBT and there is significant positive correlation between knowledge and satisfaction of patients regarding CBT. main recommendations are in clinical work: Designing health education programs for population especially adolescents how to cope with problems that lead to addiction. Utilizing this study in designing and implementing programs about patients satisfaction among CBT .. In further researches: Further studies are needed to assist in generalization of the findings .In nursing education: Introduction of specific courses aiming acquisition of skills in measuring patient satisfaction among CBT. |
