Abstract

Dermatological diseases can be associated with psychiatric comorbidity. Several studies reported high rates of depression and anxiety particularly for specific dermatological diseases affecting their life quality.
The aim of this work was to assess psychiatric comorbidities in patients with dermatological disease such as vitiligo, psoriasis, acne and eczema and compare them with healthy volunteers and assess impact on Quality of life.
It is a cross sectional study, this study was carried out at neuropsychiatry department, faculty of medicine Menoufia University. It involved 150 individuals 120 patients with dermatological diseases and 30 volunteers as a control group. The patients were attending outpatient dermatology clinic. They were classified into the following groups:
group 1: 30 patients diagnosed with vitiligo disease.
Group2: 30 patients diagnosed with psoriasis disease.
group 3: 30 patients diagnosed with acne disease.
group 4: 30 patients diagnosed with eczema disease.
group 5: 30 subjects of healthy participants as a control group.
All subjects (150) were asked for their consent. Predesigned scales were then given to subjects and all of them completed the scales (response rate =100%).
Both cases and controls will be subjected to:
 The modified structured clinical interview for DSM-IV Axis I disorders (SCIDI) To diagnose psychiatric comorbidities according to DSM-IV classification
 Stressful life events scale
 Fahmi and El Sherbini scale for socioeconomic status.
