Abstract

Fish is considered one of the most important seafood stuff withhigh nutritive value. It also provides a major source of food security by providing easy digestible, high quality and inexpensive animal protein in some countries, especially developing countries.
Fish are exposed to different sources of pollution during the production and processing stages till reach the consumer, either in their natural environment as fisheries and fish farms or during fishing, processing, transportation, marketing or even improper storage. Fish and fishery products may be contaminated with microbial infection and food poisoning bacteria such as Vibrio and Aeromonas which make them unfit for human consumption.
The obtained results were summarized as the following:
Part I: survey on antibiotic resistant bacteria in raw marketed fish (Vibrio spp. and Aeromonas spp.)
A total of 120 random fresh fish samples were collected from different fish market in Obour city at Cairo governorate and Zagazig city at Sharkia Governorate. The fish samples were collected for 8 fish species including: Mackerel, Grey mullet, Nile tilapia, Common sole / Solea spp., Sea bass, Gilt-head sea bream, Meagre and Nile perch (15, of each).
