Abstract

This study was carried out on 50 male albino rats weighing between 200-±25gm used in this experiment. They purchased from the Animal house, present in the Faculty of medicine, Zagazig University. Animals are maintained in stainless steel cages in the Biochemistry department under hygienic condition. The animals received standard rat diet and water for 15 days before the experiment for adaptation.
Experimental design:
Rats under study were classified as follows:
• The Control group receive 1 ml normal saline / kg Bwt intraperitoneal injection.
• Acute pancreatitis induced group were injected intra perotineally with caerulin at adose of (20 μg/kg) two times with one hour interval to induce acute pancreatitis. After confirmation of acute pancreatitis by measuring serum amylase, all treated were sub divided into four groups:
A. Non treated group: 10 rats after induction of acute pancreatitis were remain without any treatment and with free access for food and water for 12 days.
B. Glycyrrhizin treated group:
10 rats of acute pancreatitis induced group were treated with glycyrrhizin (40mg/kg) per day orally for 12 days.
