Abstract The current study was to study of the toxicity of abamectin and fipronil on levels of some biochemical functions in female albino rats at concentrations 1/10, 1/50 and 1/100 of LD50 value in drinking water for 45 days. Histopathological alterations of abamectin and fipronil in liver, kidney, lung and ovary tissues were also examined. In addition to evaluating of the recovery period for 15 days after exposure to abamectin and fipronil on biochemical functions and histopathological alterations. The obtained results showed that increases in AST, ALT, ALP, albumin, urea and creatinine, and reduction in total protein, hemoglobin content, glutathione-S-transferase and acetylcholinesterase. The results demonstrated that biochemical changes no improved after the recovery period. The results also showed that sinusoidal dilation, apoptotic bodies or necrosis and portal inflammation were observed in the liver. Severe histopathological alterations, including glomerular atrophy, renal vessels and renal tubular were noted in the kidney. Also, the lung of rats appeared alveolar septa, bronchiolar epithelium and interstitial inflammation. On other hands, the ovary sections of rats showed the normal histopathological structure. The results demonstrated that histopathological changes no improved after the recovery period. Our results, it can be concluded that abamectin and fipronil caused biochemical functions changes and histopathological alterations of female rats thus precautions are recommended to avoid its effect on human.
