Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of a proposed program based on the lexical approach on developing EFL vocabulary and a reading comprehension skills among secondary schoolers. Eighty Second year secondary school students participated in the study using the pre- posttest design. The participants were assigned to an experimental group (N=40) and a control group (N=40). The researcher developed a vocabulary skills test and reading comprehension skills test. and the material of the study . Both groups were pre-tested . The experimental group was taught adopting the suggested program , whereas the control group was taught traditionally . Then, both groups were post tested . Data were analyzed statistically . Findings proved the effectiveness of the program in developing vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. |
