Abstract

The success of any organization can be achieved by facing their problems and solving them. Organizational silence represented one of these problems which undoubtedly effect on citizenship behaviors. This study aimed to examine the relationship between organizational silence among nurses and their citizenship behavior at Port Said general hospitals. The descriptive correlation design was applied in the current study. The study was conducted in all outpatients and inpatients departments at Port-Said and Elzohor general hospital. The sample size was 177 nurses. Data of this study was collected through using two tools; organizational silence scale and citizenship behavior scale. The result of the study revealed that more than two-thirds of nurses didn’t support organizational silence and the majority of nurses have a display of citizenship behavior. The study concluded that there was a statistically significant relationship between organizational silence and citizenship behavior. The current study recommended that a healthy organizational climate can occur through break silence and encourage citizenship behaviors.
