Abstract The normal menstrual cycle can be divided into two phases: follicular and luteal phases which are separated by ovulation and bookended by the first day of menstrual bleeding. The follicular phase is dominated by the development of the pre-ovulatory follicle, result in proliferative phase. Luteal phase produces progesterone, leading to secretory phase of endometrial cycle. LPD is diagnosed clinically by shortened luteal phase, laboratory by decreased urinary pregnanediol and histologically by endometrial biopsy which considered the gold standard for LPD diagnosis and show lagging more than 2 days behind the known luteal day in the morphologic characteristics. |
