Abstract Aim of study: this finite element analysis study aimed to assess stress distribution within the number of implants used to retained implant palateless overdenture by ball attachment, locator attachment and bar attachment. Material and Methods: This study was carried out on clear acrylic resin model representing maxillary completely edentulous arch. Four dummy implants were inserted two in canine area and two in second premolars region. Ridge was covered by auto-polymerized soft-liner material to simulate the mucosa. Three model were duplicated, overdentures were constructed. The overdentures were classified into three groups according to the type of attachments: group I: overdenture retained by with ball& socket attachment. group II: overdenture retained by locator attachments. group III: overdenture retained by with bar attachment. The 3D finite element models were prepared using maxillary four implant assisted overdenture models. |
