Abstract

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory disease with increasing incidence worldwide. The development of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) is one of leading events responsible for the mortality of AP. SIRS results from the excessive release of inflammatory mediators from the local tissues and results in the systemic amplification of AP, which may ultimately cause multiple organ system failure (MOF) within 24-72 hours .
We used cerulein drugs model of induced acute pancreatitis. Therefore, it is important to treat AP model. There are several ways for AP treatment such as physical activity or using drugs or by surgery but the most effective and safe way is using natural products.
In the present study, we have evaluated effect of proanthocyanidin alone and combination between it and Ketorolac on treatment of acute pancreatitis induced by cerulein in rat.
So that the rats were devided into 5 equal groups as following:
• group 1: control normal group 10 rats fed on standard rat chow without treatment and received orally1 ml normal saline / kg Bwt daily for 12 days.
