Abstract

The present study was designed to isolate and defining enteric bacteria from the Egyptian raw milk with the study of the morphological and physiological characteristics as a microbiological indicator on the quality of the milk. The inhibitory effect of 10 essential oils was also studied to control the growth of the intestinal microorganisms that were defined. 22 milk samples were randomly collected from local markets in Mansoura city A total of 136 of enteric bacterial isolates could be cultured from these samples by selective cultivation media and subjected to morphological and biochemical examinations. Four isolates coded B1, D1, L`1 and R`1 that have been isolated from different milk sources and from different selective cultivation media they identified by PCR method. Ten essential oils were tested for their inhibitory activities against the four enteric bacterial strains.
