Abstract Water, sediment and plankton samples were collected seasonally from Hurghada area along the Red Sea coast during the period from July, 2016 to October, 2017. The location of the study was represented by four main sectors (Arabia, Marina, Sheraton and Magawish). The collected samples of sea water were applied to physical, chemical and metal analysis during the four seasons of the study. The results showed that each of Iron, Zinc and Manganese have the highest concentrations on the study area. The sediment of the area of study showed an observed heavy metals accumulation on the bulk fraction that also varied from the high content of Iron to the least concentrations of Cobalt and Nickel. Zooplankton samples were identified for various groups. The highest zooplankton taxa that were represented in the study area were Tintinnids, Foraminifera, copepods and Cheatognatha. Iron, Zinc and Manganese have the highest accumulation in tissues of zooplankton in the study area. Phytoplankton groups were identified by the abundance of four main classes (Bacillariophyceae, Dinophyceae, Chlorophyceae and Cyanophyceae). Heavy metal analysis in phytoplankton biomass also showed a high accumulation of Iron followed by Zinc. |
