المستخلص Background: Students’ assessment and evaluation as essential aspects of the clinical leammg environment should be performed in a supportive, nonthreatening manner and be used for formative guidance, not just summative evaluation. Aim: to assess technical institute of nursing student’s satisfaction about methods of evaluation in clinical settings. Design: A descriptive research design was used. Setting: the study was conducted at imbaba technical health institute. Sample: All available clinical staff at technical institute (N =30) and nursing sudents in academic year (2017-2018) at first and second year (N= 250). Tools: Methods of evaluation questionnaire, students’ satisfaction questionnaire were used in this study. Results: the study indicated an approximately two third of first year students were satisfied with assignment while only approximately one quarter of them were satisfied with oral exam and majority of second year students were satisfied with written exam, while only approximately one quarter of them were satisfied with oral exam. Conclusion: Levels of satisfaction at first year nursing students two third ofthem were satisfied with assignment while only one quarter of them were satisfied with oral exam. While among second year students majority of them were satisfied with written exam, while only one quarter of them were satisfied with oral exam. Recommendations: Combining new clinical evaluation methods, which cover the cwrent methods weakness. Continues development of clinical staff skills to be more competent. Counseling sessions are needed to help students to verbalize their feelings about their clinical experiences. Further studies about students’ satisfaction about methods of evaluation in different settings. |
