Abstract

This thesis aims to build integrated treatment system has ability to monitor
and control in water parameters utilizing Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs).This
thesis discusses WSNs concepts, components of WSNs, topology of WSNs and
challenged of WSNs. Due to the advantages of WSNs, it spreads in many different
applications such as military, industrial, health and environmental applications.
Environmental applications are among the most important applications in wireless
sensor networks because of the role that wireless sensor networks play in these
applications. WSNs are able to detect natural phenomena status through continuous
monitoring by a set of sensors. Environmental applications which employ WSNs
such as volcano monitoring, fire forest detection, flood detection, water monitoring
and etc.
This thesis focuses on water monitoring and presents two proposed systems
for water monitoring. The first system is based on multi-sensors, ’controller and
GUI. The second proposed system is designed based on WSNs applications for
wirelessely remote monitoring and control in water parameters. The results for two
systems show the possibility of monitoring the water parameters status and control
in the parameters in real time. The proposed systems overcome the traditional
method which based on analysis water samples in laboratory because this method
leads to time gap between real water and water samples, it don’t give correct real-
time water parameters values. Therefore, it leads to inaccurate results about water
parameters and inaccurate or false decision.
On the other hand, the results are employed in designing teaching strategy of
computer aided test syllabus. This strategy is proposed to develop the imagination
skills for fourth year students in Electronics Technology Department- Faculty of
Industrial Education- Helwan University.
