Abstract

Writing is an essential component of English language especially for the young ages; as it provides them with a convenient, yet effective, way of expressing themselves and their own opinions or reflections about what lies around them. CW is a vivid and dynamic tool that students can make use of to examinelife experiences and provide their own point of view as well as acquiring more knowledge. The weakness, and sometimes the lack, of the CW abilities in the Egyptian school education system have caused a shortage in so many abilities that are necessary for school students to both learn English language and also express their own thoughts in an appropriate way. The previous studies also showed that there is a lack of awareness of environmental and cultural contexts on both lingual and real-life levels among preparatory school stage students. The current study tried to solve some of the hinders that may face learning CW as an essential ability for preparatory school EFL students. The study also stated out the importance of providing preparatory school students with an opportunity to raise their own familiarity and awareness of the environment issues, how to overcome them and how to examine facts with providing evidences for their arguments using the abilities of CW.
CW allows students to show their own voices in a piece of writing; as they form a solid situation towards the ideas they examine or reflect about. CW also enables students to accept and oppose ideas on their own with a logical justification and provide evidences for their opinions. Moreover, CW gives students the chance to write appropriately according to the context they are dealing with, which reduces vagueness and emphasizes the clarity of their ideas.
Another advantage of CW is that it pushes students away from the regular spoon-feeding education and recalling information without any processing. Students use the high-order cognitive abilities, such as synthesize, solving problems and analyzing, which help students to be more creative and give them the freedom to reflect.
VR is a modern and enjoyable way to provide a higher level of teaching CW. Students can examine environmental and cultural contexts more thoroughly while using VR and know where to look and search for answers for every question that comes to their minds. Virtual reality is an effective way to examine both environmental and cultural contexts as it is safer and easier to view far and dangerous phenomena as if they are real.
