Abstract Quinoline azo compounds play a central role as chelating agents for a large numbers of metal ions, as they form a stable six-membered ring after complexation with a metal ion. The complexes have received considerable attention in the last decade. The present study involves preparation quinoline azo ligand and metal complexes of M(II) (M = Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Cr(III) as well as characterized by elemental analysis, IR, electronic spectra, molar conductance magnetic susceptibility and thermogravimetric studies. Chapter 1, contains a literature survey includes the importance and structural chemistry of quinoline compounds and their complexes. Chapter 2, involves materials used and the preparation of quinoline azo ligand and metal complexes of M(II) (M = Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Cr(III)) as well as analytical techniques. Chapter 3 includes on the results and discussion abstracted from this study. |
