Abstract Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) consists of autologous platelets created by centrifugation. The platelet concentration is 4–7 times the normal plasma concentration. Platelets secrete at least seven essential protein growth factors involved in initiating wound healing. Recently, PRP has attracted attention in the field of dermatology, specifically in the aesthetic field for skin rejuvenation. Loss of elasticity is one of the primary signs of skin aging, followed by the appearance of visible wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is involved in maintaining skin hydration, The HA concentration in the skin is determined by the complex balance between the skin’s synthesis, deposition, and degradation. Recent basic research supports the idea that HA and PRP treatments can be advantageously associated without altering the original relevant characteristics of both products. When both products are injected, their effects might be additive to enhance the anabolic function of dermal fibroblasts. Microneedling also called ”percutaneous collagen production” is a form of using instruments which contain rows of thin needles. When these instruments are rolled over the surface of the skin, they induce rapidly-healing micropunctures. So, collagen and elastin fiber production is stimulated resulting in skin remodeling. Microneedling acts also by creating transient aqueous transport microchannels through the stratum corneum, thus increasing the transcutaneous permeability. This procedure is called transdermal drug delivery. Summary 88 Our study included thirty subjects who received facial treatments with PRP and HA through microneedling every two weeks and the results were evaluated through our assumed visual assessment scale. The results yielded statistically significant improvement concerning skin texture, glow, acne, acne scars, wrinkles, wide pores, pallor and firmness compared to baseline. Moreover, patients showed marked satisfaction with the results with minimal side effects including erythema and burning or itching sensation that lasted only few hours. No persistent side effects were observed and no patients were found to have any evidence of inflammation or allergic reaction. In conclusion, PRP plus HA derived through microneedling represent a potentially effective and safe materials for skin rejuvenation. They could be recommended for keeping the youthful appearance of the skin without cosmetics. Also, microneedling is a safe simple tool to deliver substances through skin with minimal pain in hand with collagen synthesis induction. |
