Abstract The investigation of new methodologies for manufacturing of metal nanocolloids has become a topic of interest in nanoscience and nanotechnology. Because of their size-dependent physical, chemical and optical properties, metal nanoparticles (NPs) can be efficiently utilized as a surface modifiers of fabrics for imparting antimicrobial, and UV protective properties for production of multifunctional textiles. In addition, metal NPs present brilliant and fascinating colors due to their localized surface Plasmon resonance (LSPR) properties which could be modified by tuning their topographical features and size. Therefore, the influence of applied metal NPs as multifunctional agent imparting coloration (printing/dyeing) as well as antimicrobial and UV protective properties for natural and synthetic fabrics were the focus of this thesis. To achieve this task, the original work presented in this thesis was designed to include: I. One-step green approach for functional printing and finishing of textiles using silver and gold NPs II. Functional Dyeing of wool fabrics using selenium nanoparticles Se-NPs. |
