Abstract

Hair plays an integral role in the perception of oneself and is often associated with youthful vitality. Hair loss affects a vast portion of population ranging from 30–40% of women depending on age. While the causes of hair thinning are multifactorial, androgenic alopecia is the most common etiology and leads to female pattern hair loss in women.
The metabolic syndrome, which is a group of clinical signs that concern cardiovascular and diabetes-related phenotypes, including increased waist circumference and elevated triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, glucose, and blood pressure, are the risk factors of developing cardio-vascular diseases and diabetes.
Irisin has been proposed to regulate metabolic diseases such as obesity, diabetes or MS, it is a 12 k Da myokine comprised of 112 amino acids, was isolated from muscle tissue. This myokine is involved in converting white adipose tissue to brown adipose tissue which increases thermogenesis and may improve systemic metabolism or insulin sensitivity.
