Abstract HCV infection is one of the leading causes of liver disease with approximately 180 million people chronically infected worldwide. Patients with acute HCV infection who undergo SVC were defined as positive for anti HCV antibody but undetectable HCV RNA in two consecutive tests over a minimum time interval of 3m in serum within the first 12m of follow-up without treatment. IL-10 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced mainly by monocytes/macrophages, Th2 cells and T-reg cells. Number of polymorphisms are found in promotor region of IL10 gene. They have been found to be associated with the transcription activity of IL10 gene and the serum level of IL10. The aim of our study is to assess the role of IL-10 (-1082A/G) gene polymorphism in spontaneous clearance of HCV infection in Egyption patients. This study was case control study conducted on 100 of individuals with chronic hepatitis C infection and 50 cases of hepatitis C with spontaneous viral clearance. IL10 (-1082A/G) genotypes and alleles were not associated with SVC in Egyptian patients The results revealed that the levels of ALT, AST and FIB4 were considered to be associated with prediction of the natural course of HCV infection either chronicity or spontaneous clearance. |
