Abstract
The present thesis included three main chapters; introduction, experimental,results and discussion as well as English and Arabic summary.1- The first chapter of this thesis included a literature survey of the previous work carried out on spectral studies of different chalcones,their medical importance and their complexes. It is also included the solvent effect,2- The experimental part of the thesis “chapter 2” included the materials and reagents used as well as the experimental techniques. It comprised details concerning the materials,preparation of the chalcones under investigation and some solid complexes, solutions, instruments used, working procedures and methods of calculation. The elemental analysis of the prepared chalcones was also included.3- Chapter three which included the results and discussion, Part one included:(a) The FT-IR spectra of chalcones under investigation were measured and their characteristic bands are assigned to the corresponding vibrational modes. The structure of the chalcones was also confirmed from 1HNMR and mass spectral measurements.(b) The electronic spectral studies of chalcones under investigation in some organic solvents of different polarities. The variation of CT band position was interpreted according to the microscopic solvent parameters.
