Abstract The application of biostimulants in crop cultivation allows higher levels of sustainability by the reduction of fertilizers and environmental contamination and, at the same time, enhancing plant quality. PGPB are being familiarized nowadays for their unlimited benefits in agriculture. In this study, 13 selected isolates of endophytes; four newly isolated and 9 donated isolates have been tested for their plant growth-promotion abilities. Parameters assessed were Indole acetic acid (IAA) production, Gibberellic acid (GA3) production, Hydrogen cyanide (HCN) production, Ammonia production, Exopolysaccharide (EPS) production, Nitrogen fixation, Siderophores production, 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase (ACC-deaminase) activity and phosphate solubilization. IAA production and GA3 production was shown by all the isolates. EPS production was shown by 11 isolates. HCN production and ammonia production were shown by 6 and 11 isolates respectively. Phosphate solubilization ability was detected in 7 isolates only. 12 isolates were positive for Siderophores production test. According to these results, the most promising isolates were applied on Lactuca sativa and both morphological and physiological parameters were tested in a 30 day-long pot experiment. Out of the 13 tested isolates, Brevibacillus DesertYSK and Rhizobium MAP7 could be considered the most potential isolates that could be produced in large scale and used in other applications. |
