Abstract

This study focuses on developing distress prediction models for flexible pavements located in non-freeze climatic zone, which represent most of the Middle East countries such as Egypt. Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) program was the main source of data to develop such models. Six distress performance prediction models were developed in this study using data extracted from LTPP program for both wet and dry-non-freeze climatic zones, which are fatigue (alligator) cracking, longitudinal cracking, transverse cracking, raveling, bleeding, and rut depth prediction models. The models were developed using regression analysis and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) approaches. Other efforts were also conducting regarding possible implementation of the developed models in the Egyptian roads network. The implementation results confirm the powerful and accuracy of developed models in predicting the distress densities; however, local calibration for developed models is highly recommended whenever performance data is available.
