Abstract

Osteoporosis is a skeletal disorder that it is usually complicated with fracture after minor trauma or even without any trauma with subsequent pain and disability due to progressive loss in bone density. Glucocorticoids are the main cause of secondary osteoporosis occurring in people who are on long term treatment with high dose glucocorticoids.
Glucocorticoids may result in a decrease in osteoblasts activity and an increase in the rate of osteocytes apoptosis and so decrease in the vascular endothelial factor, skeletal angiogenesis and bone strength.
PRP is a concentrated platelets obtained by blood centrifugation, it is a concentration of protein growth factors secreted by platelets and is used in treating wide variety of medical problems.
Aim of the work:
The present study aimed to evaluate the possible therapeutic effects of PRP on Dexamethasone-induced osteoporosis in adult male albino rat.
Materials and Methods:
This study was carried out on 40 adult male albino rats divided into 2 groups as follow:
Control group I: It included 10 rats received no medications to study the normal bone histology. Experimental group II: It included 30 rats that divided into 3 equal subgroups, IIa, IIb and IIc, 10 rats each as follow:
