Abstract

Trunk reconstruction needs a detailed understanding of anatomy and advanced methods of reconstructive surgery.
The common used methods of reconstruction include skin grafting, local flaps, pedicled flaps, muscle flaps and free flaps.
There are many reasons for trunk defects and almost presented in complicated or advanced state that requires special considerations in the choice of way of reconstruction to get minimal donor morbidity and reliable tissue and coverage of exposed vital structures in many cases.
Along with the revolution going in plastic surgery, compelling surgeons to investigate for better options. Perforator flaps, evolved after this impulse, offer us a more versatile reconstructive option as they give us more privilege in designing the flap and prevent scarification of muscles and main vessels.
Color duplex will be used preoperatively for mapping of perforator flap dissection.
Although a learning curve is present for perforator dissection and design of the flaps after good knowledge of the region angiosomes and vascular anatomy, pedicled perforator flaps offer us reliable, versatile and productive solutions at almost all regions of the body.
