Abstract
SCC is one of the lethal malignancies of head and neck and represents a worldwide problem. Among its major risk factors are tobacco smoking, betel nut chewing, alcohol consumption, and HPV infection.
Despite the exerted efforts toward improving the outcome of the different modalities of therapy the overall survival rate has not improved yet suggesting the need for further researches for new strategies for treatment
Our results showed that Apig and Apig NPs exerted cytotoxic effect on the cells via inhibiting cell growth and decreased mitochondrial membrane potential of the treated cells which was assessed by the MTT assay, induced morphological changes examined by photomicrographic examination, decreased the NAF assessed by the Image J software and they triggered apoptosis and arrested cell cycle progression at both G0/G1 and G2/M phase, confirmed via the flow cytometric analysis combined by PI and annexin V staining by annexin v.
