Abstract

was boiled in methanol for 1h .Five drops of conc. H2SO4 were added,
and continuous refluxed to 3hrs. (14.0 g, 0.13 mol) of 1, 2- phenylene diamine
was added. The mixture was refluxed with stirring for more 3hrs and the
brown precipitate which formed was filtered off, washed with methanol and
dried in air. The physic-chemical measuring of raw wastewater, primary
Effluent of DHS and their heavy metal at the condition:
A- At retention time 6h in absence of chelator.
The experimental data showed that, the removal efficiency of BOD in
DHS was (24.67±10 %). The removal efficiency of TSS was (55.11±12%) in
the DHS system, chemical oxygen demand (COD) 31.16±10.
B- At retention time 3h in the presence of 0.6 gm of chelator.
In the presence of 0.6 g/L of the chelator, the results revealed that, the
average removal values of COD total, BOD total, TS, TSS, TN, TKN, TP,
DO and VSS are respectively 75%, 65%, 98%, 99%, 54%, 73%, 39%, 88%
and 78%. The removal values of heavy metals are Cu (78%), Fe (47%), Cr
(72%), Zn (38 %), and Pb (54%).
C- At retention time 3h in the presence of 1.4 gm of chelator.
In the presence of 1.4 g/L of the chelator, the results revealed that, the
average removal values of COD total, BOD total, TS, TSS, TN, TKN, TP,
DO and VSS are respectively 75%, 65%, 100%, 95%, 54%, 100%, 39%, 74%
and 100%. The removal values of heavy metals are Cu (85%), Fe (72%), Cr
(64%), Zn (65 %), and Pb (61%).
